Zach and Hailey came and spent the evening making promise rings in the studio. He surprised her with the trip and she was excited at the idea of learning to make jewelry. They picked out their stones, Zach a black onyx and Hailey a howlite, and they got to work! Here are some photo's of their experience...
This is Chelsea from LA and she is one of my first students I ever taught at Sundance! She comes and makes jewelry with me every year for the last 6 1/2 years, she is 19 now so I have seen her grow up from a young teenager into a beautiful girl! She is making jewelry now as one of her jobs which I think is so cool and she also volunteers at a nonprofit animal sanctuary called Wildlife Waystation that rescues all kinds of animals including exotic ones! I am jealous that she gets to hang out with the big cats! Here she is with her ring she made today...
My favorite time of year is when I get to combine three of my favorite things, teaching, friendship and music. Singer songwriters from the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tn. come to Sundance every summer and perform their songs in the beautiful amphitheater on the mountain. I am lucky because a lot of the time I get to have two hours of jewelry making time in my studio to get to know them even more. Over the years Leslie Satcher has become my favorite artist. She has come out many times and made many pieces of jewelry with me and we have had a great time together! I have also met her Momma Nita, her "cowboy" and this year her sister came out with her. She has written hits for Willie Nelson, Martina McBride, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Pam Tillis, Patty Loveless, Vince Gill, Merle Haggard and Gretchen Wilson. After I shared with her about a recent break-up she dedicated a song to me this year that was about the challenges of relationships. Thanks Leslie! She is an amazing woman and I am lucky to call her a friend!
Leslie and I over the years:
To add to my Soul Sisters I also was blessed to meet Mary Jane Rushlow the wife of Bluebird artist Tim Rushlow. She made a beautiful turquoise ring and I made a beautiful new friend. I love connecting with people authentically and making each others lives more rich and meaningful just by meeting and sharing with each other. Thank you for coming into my life Mary Jane!
My friend and fellow Sundance Artist Joy wanted to make some wedding bands for some friends of hers and came and spent a few hours in the studio. I taught her how to carve the design into the wax and she created matching bands for the bride and groom. The design was at the request of the couple and was symbolic for them - mountains and a river. Joy created a simple but beautiful design and I am excited to see it cast into silver! Good Job Joy!
Had a great time teaching 2 hour workshops for 2 days in Moab over the weekend! Met some of the funnest people, ate amazing food, left the town a little more blingy and can't wait to go back in November!
